The world war which was started by Hitler brought the death of thousands upon millions of soldiers and innocent civilians. Just like the name ‘world’ war, the war was aroused between  many countries and so people with diverse nationality had to suffer from the aftermath of the war. But indeed the effect of the atomic bomb on Hiroshiman and Nagasaki cannot be taken out. Although Germany has taken an important part in starting the war, Japan also played a big part in the World War and was considered one of the main culprit to the harm and damage the war gave. So as in a final decision to end the war, the American government dropped a nuclear bomb on two cities of Japan. But the extent of damage these couple of bombs brought to the country was surprisingly enormous.

The atomic bomb which was meant to stop the War and the death of many innocents altogether, only led to a much bigger and disastrous deaths of the Japan citizens. The first bomb, dropped on the city of Hiroshima on 6 August 1945, resulted in a death toll of around 135,000. The second, which hit Nagasaki on 9 August, killed at least 50,000 people – according to some estimates, as many as 74,000 died. Also, the data of the interviews with the survivors and the realistic descriptions of the situation at that time shows how serious harm the crisis has caused the country. The after-cite of the atomic bomb was another big problem the Japan government had to face. Radioactive resulted by the atomic bomb soon made the country overflow with radioactive sickness. It took the lives of much more, and the people who had survived the attack were exposed to heavy non-fatal doses of radiation during the attacks and due to fallout in the intervening weeks. Many of them ended up in lingering health problems and a large number of them were made much more susceptible to cancer.

Using the atomic bomb violates the human dignity of life by taking away the lives of many and unspecified citizen, using atomic bomb. Nagasaki and Hiroshima was a city out of the battle grounds and there seemed to be no reason to attack such cities. The simple, yet huge attack made by the American government killed the lives of thousands with a single bomb. Lives are not something to be valued lightly. But just to maximize the effect of the bomb, the American government decided to bomb a city that has nothing to do with the world war they were having. As a result, thousands upon thousands had to give up their lives just to end a war. It wasn’t just any kind of war of course, but in their point of view, many of them would not have understood why a foreign jet had to fly over their heads and why they had to drop a bomb and why it had to destroy everything they had lived through their lives. In their perspective, it would be same as giving up their lives for nothing. As I have mentioned in the statistics above, thousands lost their lives after the twice bombing. And even after, people had to suffer from the after and side effects of the bomb, their entire life. Nothing can be justified right when it arouses the value of human life.

Radiation from the remnants of the bomb left a sever scar in the condition of the environment and the country itself. The nuclear energy can be a great resource in the human society but when it is exploded, the radiation it produces is fatal and can be deadly to any living organisms. People affected to the radiation has to suffer from various other diseases as mentioned before and even though the condition of one’s body might seem normal at first, it could lead to mutation and deformation to the 2nd generation.

The atomic bomb hasn’t just damaged the welfare and society of the country but it had given negative effects for the future generation and the descendants of the people whose elders have been seriously injured from the atomic bomb are still suffering from minor diseases.  So I believe that the atomic bomb should not have been used in any and all cases of the war.
